DAF Trucks goes to Road Transport Expo (RTX) at Stoneleigh this year with a line-up of top specification New Generation DAF tractor units, examples from its ‘International Truck of the Year’ new XD range, and two zero-emissions 19-tonne LF Electric vehicles – plus further LF and XD models to ride-and-drive.

DAF XD - International Truck of the Year 2023
A display of models from the DAF XD range, which was voted International Truck of the Year 2023, will take centre stage at RTX 2023. Judges from the IToY panel of international journalists will be at RTX and on Wednesday 28thJune at 11am when Will Shiers, Editor of Commercial Motor and UK panel representative will hand over the award on the DAF stand.
XD 450 FT Sleeper Cab – the ideal urban and regional tractor, the XD offers exceptional direct vision for safe operation in busy, congested, and restricted environments. The RTX exhibit features the DAF Digital Vision System including the DAF corner view camera, plus a kerb view window, to deliver a 4-star Direct Vision Standard.
XD 410 FAN 6x2 rear steer rigid – this XD rigid is exhibited with a Truck Loaders builders’ merchants body including rear mounted HIAB crane. With a focus on body integration, the New Generation DAF XD has been designed to facilitate easy and seamless body installation and control, with simplified data sharing and communication between vehicle and superstructure allowing a uniform integration of controls, signals and warnings.
XDC 450 FAD 8x4 Sleeper Cab Tipper – fitted with a Boweld body. The XDC features a robust steel bumper and a radiator protection plate delivering a large ground clearance and an approach angle of 25 degrees. The XDC 8x4 FAD is designed specifically for tough on-off road operation while offering superb direct vision of vulnerable road users. The RTX exhibit boasts 3-star direct vision standard. Power comes courtesy of the latest fuel-efficient PACCAR MX-11 at ratings up to 330 kW/ 449hp and 2200Nm. The 12-speed TraXon automated gearbox optionally features off road software with ‘rock-free’ functionality to cope with the most difficult terrain.
XG+ 530 FTG – this range topping truck has been specified with a premium appointed XG+ cab kitted out with electrically controlled DAF Relax Bed, Xtra Leather heated and ventilated driver seat with swivel base, plus leather folding cinema passenger seat with folding table headrest. For driver comfort and safety, the DAF Digital Vision System including corner view camera is winning plaudits for its intuitive, effective design.
The 6x2 axle configuration comes with full air suspension on front and rear and the optional electrically steered second axle, for maximum comfort, ride and handling. The chassis is packaged with twin fuel tanks providing a combined capacity of 905 litres.
The XG+ 530 is powered by a top-of -the-range PACCAR MX-13, 12.9 litre engine delivering 390 kW/530hp and maximum toque of 2700Nm. The powerful MX engine brake, fitted as standard, delivers up to 360kW of retardation.
XG 530 FTN 6x2 rear-steer tractor – Resplendent in ‘Made for DAF’ livery, which promotes careers in the DAF Dealer Network, the DAF XG FTN 6x2 rear steer tractor is designed to offer maximum traction and manoeuvrability. With full air suspension enabling the chassis to be raised it is ideally suited for operations that necessitate access to tight locations with uneven or slippery surfaces.
LF Electric 19-tonners – DAF’s zero-emissions 19-tonne rigid is now entering service with operators across the UK. One of two DAF RTX exhibit is on loan from the Battery Electric Truck Trial; a Department for Transport initiative, one of the largest and most significant deployments of zero emission trucks in the UK. 20 DAF LF Electric vehicles are in service with a range of public bodies including the National Health Service and Local Authorities, with day-to-day operations monitored and real-time data gathered; the results from which will be used in an interactive website to inform future fleet operator buying decisions.
The LF Electric will depart RTX to participate in the EV Rally which will see the vehicle travel across the UK and Ireland taking in the five capitals of Cardiff, London, Edinburgh, Belfast and Dublin, and covering close to 1,200 miles.
The second DAF LF Electric 19-tonner comes to RTX courtesy of Campeys of Selby. The vehicle, fitted with a factory designed and built PACCAR curtainside body and tail-lift, joins the North Yorkshire company on Palletforce work before going on to direct deliveries to customers.

The award-winning DAF Apprenticeship scheme also provides dedicated pathways into the truck industry. DAF Apprenticeships currently deliver dedicated learning to approximately 400 young people on three-year apprenticeships covering Parts, Service and related management courses. DAF Technical Apprenticeships are available at DAF Dealers across the UK with in-depth training delivered at the DAF Apprentice College in Bristol. Representatives from DAF and some of its DAF Dealers will be on hand to provide information to RTX visitors on 30thJune when schools have been invited to attend the show.
Ride & Drive
RTX will be an ideal opportunity for visitors to evaluate models from across the DAF range from behind the wheel.
DAF vehicles available to drive include an LF 210 4x2 7.5-tonner with the new, enhanced driveline package. In particular, the truck benefits from the new PowerLine fully-automatic eight-speed gearbox delivering swift, smooth gearchanges and quick throttle response, resulting in exceptional response, comfort and driveability.
A new XD 370 FAN 6x2 rigid with curtainside body is also available for evaluation. The XD cab provides an exceptional view from the driver’s seat and offers a 4-star rating for London’s Direct Vision Standard.
