Greenhous Group, one of the UK’s largest DAF dealer groups, has recently engaged with Shout in a bid to promote well-being at work and shine a spotlight on the importance of mental health.
Shout is the UK’s first and only free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging support service for anyone who is struggling to cope. Through their engagement with Shout, Greenhous has distributed posters, literature, and digital communications across internal and customer-facing areas of the business – throughout their 25 Adams Morey, Greenhous Commercials, North West Trucks and Bulkrite sites throughout the UK, as well as across their social media channels – in an effort to raise awareness of the unique and vital service which Shout provides.
Kevin Swinnerton, Managing Director Greenhous Group Truck Operations, explained: “Sadly, the transport sector is one with a disproportionately high number of people suffering from poor mental health. As a business this is something we are committed to addressing, within our business and the wider industry.”
According to research conducted by Shout, 59% said they used Shout because they didn’t have anyone else to talk to, and 43% of people said it was their first time they have asked for help. Since launching in 2019, Shout has had more than 1.7 million conversations with people who are anxious, stressed, depressed, suicidal, or overwhelmed and who need in-the-moment support.
Swinnerton continued, “By engaging with Shout, we aim to remove the negative barriers associated with mental health and encourage those to reach out and seek help in times of need. Shout will allow us to support colleagues, customers, and suppliers in the transport industry to speak to trained volunteers if in need. Together, we hope our initiative can break down mental health stigma, champion mental health, and inspire similar commitments from other businesses within the sector.”
Shout is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Text SHOUT to 85258 for free, confidential mental health support anytime, anywhere.
